Replace the AC Power Pak Assembly

Following are step-by-step instructions for replacing your power panel assembly. Read through each section before following the instructions so you’ll know what you’ll be doing in each step.

When you install the new assembly you’ll be removing three parts from your Wizzard and replacing them with the parts shown below. The new and old parts have the same name and look similar. Before you begin, get out 3/32”, 5/32”, and 5/64” hex wrenches. You may also want to have some small containers handy for keeping track of screws you remove.

Refer to section on removing the cover

REMOVING THE POWER PANEL

Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the power panel on, and put the screws aside to use later. Notice that the panel is attached to the Wizzard by two posts underneath the engraving speed and cutter RPM knobs. Hold the green CPU board down with one hand, and pull the panel firmly upward to snap the posts

Leave the power panel where it is and follow the power cable to the back of the Wizzard, where the cable plugs into the A/C distribution board. Unplug the two power cable plugs (one is brown and one is white). To unplug the brown plug, squeeze the clips on either side and pull.
From the white plug you just disconnected, follow its green and yellow cable back to the front of the Wizzard and unplug the white plug on the other end.
Cut and discard the wire wrap that holds the power cable in place on the bottom of the Wizzard, and remove the entire power panel assembly, including the power cable.

REMOVING THE AC DISTRIBUTION BOARD

Unplug the 10-wire connector on the AC distribution board by squeezing the clips on either side and pulling. Unscrew the two screws that hold on the AC distribution board. Take off the board and set it aside.

INSTALLING THE NEW AC DISTRIBUTION BOARD

Take the piece of gray fish paper and place it on top of the power outlet assembly, lining up the holes on the paper with the screw holes on the power outlet assembly. Then put the new AC distribution board on top of the fish paper. (The fish paper insulates the power outlet assembly, so be sure to use
Before screwing the board down, plug in the 10-wire connector on top; some of the holes on this connector are square on one side, so it will fit only one way.
Line up the screw holes on the AC distribution board with the holes on the power outlet assembly, then screw in the two 3/4” screws that came with your kit.

INSTALL THE NEW AC POWER PAK

Take the new power panel and set it in place, pushing the cables aside and making sure the white connector on the left side of the panel clears the brown plug on the board. Don’t screw the power panel in yet.

There is only one post on the new power panel, under the engraving speed knob.

Check to see that this post is over the black hole, and twist the engraving speed knob while pushing the post into the hole until it snaps into place.

Screw the power panel on with the 3 screws you removed earlier.

Take the new power cable and plug the brown plug onto the four-hole outlet on the AC distribution board. It will fit only one way. Plug the orange plug onto the white 4-prong connector, making sure that the ridges on both connectors face each other (see drawing below).

On the other end of the power cable plug the orange plug into the 7-prong connector on the power panel, making sure that the ridges on both connectors face each other.

You’ll be tying the power cable down in the same place you cut the old cable free.

Pick up the plastic wire wrap and look at how it’s bent; it points in the direction you will curve it. If you curve it in the other direction it won’t work.
Insert the wire wrap into the plastic holder on the Wizzard and lay the cable on it. Then loop the wire wrap around the cable, thread it through itself, and pull it tight.
You are finished replacing the power panel assembly; now you will replace the pan and test your connections.

Put the motor belt back on, following the instructions in the Problem Solving section of the Wizzard manual.

USING THE NEW POWER PACK

To turn the switches on and off, press down and release. The green Aux. (auxiliary) switch must be turned on to use the vacuum chip removal system. REPLACING THE FUSES The fuses in your new power panel will last a long time, but they can burn out. If the power switch doesn’t light up and the Wizzard doesn’t turn on, the power fuse is probably burned out. If the motor switch doesn’t light up and the motor doesn’t work, the motor fuse may be burned out. If the auxiliary switch doesn’t light up and the vacuum doesn’t turn on, the auxiliary fuse may be burned out.

The fuse for each switch is located underneath the black cap beside the switch. To check a fuse, unscrew the black cap and pull out the fuse. If it’s burned out, replace it with a fuse of the same amperage, screw it back into place, and turn on the Wizzard. If it still doesn’t work, or if the fuse isn’t burned out, call Customer Service.
