Generally the systems that store jobs to EPROM's are less efficient than current computer hard drives. Whether you own a Wizzard, or a disk system, adding a printer to your computer engraving system is a wise business decision. Advantages of using a printer vs. job storage include:
WIZZARD
Jobs can saved on a limited basis, but the print-out includes the actual text, and font specifications.
Cost of storage (chips) is costly. A sheet of paper costs less than two cents.
Chips used for saving jobs are highly susceptible to static, paper isn't.
Whether you own a Wizzard or disk system, most likely you will find that a printer is the next best purchase for your computer engraver.
Using A Printer - with your Wizzard; accepts any Centronics standard parallel interface printer, the industry standard.
Interface Cable - 34 Pin card Edge connector for the Wizzard end, and standard parallel interface connector for printer.
Problem Solving
If you do not get printer output after attaching the cable to the printer and to your Wizzard, try the following:
Make sure your printer is turned on
Unplug the printer cable from the Wizzard. Turn the connector over and reinsert.
TRS80 Cable The TRS80 computer uses the same interface cable as the Wizzard.
Mitsubishi Video Printer
Similar to the Print Screen function on computers, Mitsubishi Video printer allows you to capture a graphics/text screen. The Mitsubishi, which connects to the Wizzard's Video Output Port, captures the video signal and transfers it to thermal paper.
Non-compatible Printers
Star NX1000-2 Not compatible with a TRS80.
Radio Shack - CMP-105 Catalog #26-1276. Prints only double spacing between lines. You can only print out a total of eight lines of a Wizzard layout on an 81/2 x 11 sheet of paper. Instructions in the printer manual indicate printer must be given instructions by regular computer to change spacing.
Miscellaneous
Are you getting double spacing on your job printouts? Check your printer manual and change the DIP switches that send out the extra carriage return.
