Batch/Multiples

Batch (XL Only)

The Batch Option lets you input different text for the same plate layout, all at one time, instead of doing it one plate at a time. It is ideal for doing trophy plates or nametags that have been precut, and must be engraved one at a time. While the layout has to be the same on each plate when batching, the text and font styles may be changed on each individual plate.

Batching allows you to enter the information for up to 70 lines of engraving. An example would be 35 plates with 2 lines of text or perhaps 14 plates with 5 lines of text on each plate. You have a copy feature to copy the lines of text that you would like to have on every plate. To get to the batch screen which is at the bottom of the screen, press the down arrow keys and the enter key.

Once you are in the batch screen, type in the number of plates you would like to batch. Now press the enter key and the XL will beep and give you a warning. At this time, if you would like to copy your text to the rest of the plate, PRESS The SHIFT + ENTER KEYS. If you did not want to copy the text to the other plates, just press the Enter Key.

To Type In Your Text And Other Information

Press The Shift Job Set-Up Keys. You are allowed to change your text, font, condensing, italics, Sub-line, Etc. on each plate after you have copied the information of the original plate. To back up your cursor in the Batch feature, Hold down on the Shift key and press the Left Arrow. BY pressing just the up or down arrow, you will stay in the same cell, but you will be on the plate either above or below. Pressing the enter key after backing up the cursor, will advance the cursor one cell at a time. When this Batch information is computed, the only screen that you can work on to see and change this information is the SHIFT JOB SET-UP screen. After computing this job and after each plate has been engraved, the Wizzard XL will stop and will ask you to press the Start key to continue.

Miscellaneous Batch Notes

When batching plates, the printer output will only show the first line of text to be engraved.
I entered 70 as number of lines to be batched. Took almost a minute to calculate. When back in to Shift + Job Option and moving from one line to next was noticeably slower. No memory problems encountered.
Multiples Multiples is a series of small plates engraved on a larger one. The Multiple feature will automatically set up your plates on the screen. The Job Set-Up SCREEN requires you to put in the FINISHED SIZE of your engraved singular plate (NOT THE COMPLETE MATERIAL SIZE).

On the Multiple screen you will be asked for your Material Size. The Margins that you are asked to put in, will give you room for you automatic scoring lines if you desire to turn them on. You also have a copy feature in the multiple screen. By setting up a smaller plate before coming to the multiple screen and adding text to one or more lines, and after pressing the enter key for this multiple, you will receive a beep and a warning from the Wizzard XL. If You would Like to Copy these lines that you have already entered the text for, Press the SHIFT-ENTER Keys. If you do not wish to copy these lines of text, just press the ENTER Key by itself.

The Multiple screen, when drawn out will left-justify all plates, This is a carry over from our larger machines software. Most people are also under the impression that they can, after the whole plate is thru engraving, even with the help of the scoring lines, can take this plate to their metal shear and cut them out. This makes this job very difficult, because the shear will grab the material and twist it, before it shears it. Therefore your second line of engraving is cut crooked and ruined.

Using the plastic spindle might be a little better, but you are still limited to a 5 inch by 8 inch area to work in (unless you have it set up for the mark 12 table) After you are thru engraving the text, the XL will stop before doing the scoring lines. This allows you to Re-Adjust the spindle to just score the material or gives you the opportunity to cut all the way through it. (to cut all the way thru the plastic, put a thin piece of trophy aluminum under your engraving material. Turn your engraving speed down as low as it will go and turn your motor RPM’s up as high as possible) Adjust your speed control to slow (job-option screen) before computing. The rotary spindle should be adjusted to where the cutter will barely protrude thru the engraving material. When you are ready to proceed, just press the Start key.

Miscellaneous Multiple Notes

The problem with using the Multiple feature on the XL, is the very small area in which to work in. You cannot save a multiple job or print it out.
