CorelDRAW for Laser Engravers

As the owner of a small business, there are a number of tools in the market to aid in completing your projects and making them stand out from the competition. CorelDRAW is one powerful tool that should not be overlooked or dismissed lightly. CorelDRAW is a complete graphic design suite that has applications for illustration and design, raster to vector, page layout, web graphics and photo-editing and is unsurpassed when sending to the laser.

Day one of this two-day session will start with an introduction to CorelDRAW, starting with “what’s in the box” and then will crack it open by looking at the interface and learning about the various tools. You will also learn some time-saving tips for the laser engraving industry.

For those that are using CorelDRAW already, regardless of what version you are using, you will learn some of the advantages of upgrading by digging into to some of the new features in CorelDRAW X8. You will leave with the tools, tricks, and techniques that will ultimately save you hours of design time and the knowledge that you can create a project that your customer will brag about.

During the second day, we will continue to dig into some of the more advanced features and you will have the opportunity to ask your toughest question, so come prepared.

Workspace overview
Creating and Working with Templates
Working with low-resolution bitmaps
Customizing the Workspace for productivity
Screen calibration for accuracy
Discover the power of the shaping commands and how to use them in things like creating cake toppers and simplifying designs.
Looking at the power of PowerTRACE & PowerClip
The New Corel Font Manager with the ability to use fonts that are not installed on the system
Using Print Merge and Imposition layout
Using CorelDRAW to position objects on the engraving bed
Basic Troubleshooting CorelDRAW

Roger Wambolt’s career is the culmination of over 20 years in graphic design and education. It began in the trenches at Corel, where Roger provided user support, training and championed Corel’s partner programs. Over the years, he acquired extensive knowledge through his relationships with graphics professionals in many industries, including print, sublimation, screen printing, sign making, engraving, and embroidery. In 2010, he started AdArt Graphics, to provide graphic design and printing services to a variety of international clients.

A CorelDRAW Graphics Suite expert, Roger has been a popular presenter at industry trade shows. He has developed and conducted classroom training and online sessions throughout North America and has authored articles for key industry magazines, including SQE Professional and The Screen Printers Resource Guide.
