Converting Mac Files To The HPGL Format (PLT extension)

Here is a proven procedure for converting MAC files for use in CorelDRAW, Vision or Vision Pro    

  • From your Mac Adobe Illustrator program, export your file as an EPS file to you DOS diskette.
  • In DOS rename the file with an EPS extension (i.e. TEST.EPS)
  • In CorelDraw use the IMPORT function to bring the file into Corel. While there is an EPS format listed with Illustrator, I have found that the COREL TRACE EPS format works.
  • When the file is successfully imported into Corel, EXPORT the file in the HPGL format (.PLT extension). When exporting send it directly to your Vision directory.
  • If you are using a floppy to transfer to another machine, EXPORT directly to the floppy. At you Vision computer, copy the file directly to the hard disk. While Vision can read from the floppy, it is recommended that the file be on your hard disk.
  • In the Vision computer, read in the file as a Logo. Enter an ‘A’ in the text field after the logo is loaded.
  • In Vision Pro, import the file (PLT format)
