Lesson 101

Creating a 3-line layout on a 1 x 3 plate

VisionPro software functions used in this lesson include: Plate Size, Text Frame Properties

Start VisionPro.

At the Plate Size dialog, enter the plate size (width 3.00, height 1.00). In the plate Selected Driver: MaxPro T-Slot.

In this lesson, I’ll use the Frame Text Compose option for placing text. Click on the Text tool, and from the fly out, choose Frame Text Compose.

After selecting this option and clicking within the sign blank, I create a frame for my text. The frame is shown by dotted lines around the sign blank and dotted frames which show the area the text is to be limited.

TIP – When you first create a Text Frame, note the flashing cursor. If it is larger than the frame, you might want to change the Font Height before you start typing. It makes the text easier to work with.

You can adjust the settings that are used for the frame by click on the Frame Properties symbol. You can adjust the settings that are used for the frame by click on the Frame Properties symbol.

It opens the Text Frame Properties dialog.

The text frame margins may be set in terms of absolute distances from the text frame edge, or by a percentage of the text frame size. While you can click on Absolute for the Margins measurements, and enter the exact margins, I prefer the default Percentage option. It uses a percentage of the plate size versus having to change the values for each plate.

From the Toolbox, select Text Tools, and from the flyout, select Frame Text Compose.

The sign blank area will be highlighted with dash lines and a cursor will appear.

On the Fonts Property Bar, make the following changes: change font to RomainUL, font height to .20, center justification.

Enter the following  text:

roger coleman

Your layout should look like this example

With the cursor, highlight just the name.

Change the FONT SLANT to 12.0.

The new layout is shown.
