About the Class
It's that time of year again. This class will not only feed the brains of Universal Laser owners, but most importantly it will actually help feed famililes in the North Texas Area. The proceeds of the class tuition will be matched by the Engravers Network and donated to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. See notes from last years class.
The class will be hosted by Darrell Stephens, the new Sales and Operations manager of the Engravers Network. Darrell is the former Regional Sales Manager of Universal Laser Systems who brings a wealth of knowledge about the Universal Laser products.
The class will be divided into three sections; Laser Interface+ (print driver and Universal Control Panel), Introduction to 1-Touch Photo, and CorelDRAW lessons and tips for the laser owner.
Laser Interface+
The VersaLASER Series, Professional Series & Industrial Series all feature Laser Interface+, the world's most advanced, powerful and flexible materials-based print driver. The Laser Interface+ consists of a Print Driver (Material Based and Advanced Driver) and the ULS Engraver Control Panel (Viewer, System, Diagnostics). In this class we will send a variety of jobs from CorelDRAW, and work the with settings for the jobs in the Print Driver and the the UCP.
The Print Driver
Both the Manual Control, and the Material Based settings tabs will be covered. In the Materials Based section, you will learn how to pick a material from the Category List, as well as create new materials, and edit the Categories of materials. This segment will also cover the Intensity Adjustment sliders, setting up the Rotary Fixture, and using Custom Fixture types.
The Manual Control tab options allows you to adjust the power, speed, PPI, and Z-Axis for each of the eight colors. Also, the class will cover the Print Special Effects, Image Density, Print Direction, Dithering and Image Density. Also. included will be the uses and features in the Vector and Engraving Field tabs in the View Tab.
The Laser Interface+ Control Panel (UCP)
My favorite feature of the Laser Interface+ UCP is the Viewer Tab. Here you can see the job as it will be engraved. Also in the Viewer Tab, you can recall any job that you have engraved/saved, and with a click of a button, send the job to the laser without either going into CorelDRAW, or selecting your power settings. And, this tab is also where you will find the BASIC VIEW, FOCUS VIEW, ESTIMATE VIEW, RELOCATE VIEW, and JOB ESTIMATOR.
We'll also review all of the options in the System and Diagnostics tabs. The Laser Interface+ is the latest technology that will really help you increase your laser productivity.
1-Touch Photo
This section will cover the introduction and basics of the all new 1-Touch Photo package from Universal Laser. It is truly one touch, and the quality of the output is unbelievable. The samples from the 1-Touch Photo will include marble, leather, acrylic, glass and metal.
CorelDRAW Tips & Lessons
Darrell will add a new perspective with his CorelDRAW tips and lessons. Prior to joining Universal Laser, he had an awards and industrial products shop in Arizona.
