Exhaust
To properly exhaust fumes and smoke from the laser engraving system during operation, it is necessary to provide an external exhaust that is vented to the outside, or the use of an
internal fume extractor. While it is recommended that you have the external exhaust installed outside (either with a
roof or
outside mount) to reduce noise, it can be installed internally. It is never recommended to be installed in an attic or drop ceiling.
Generally, the exhaust should be located within 10 feet of the laser. [Additional specifications for measured distances.] If the outside vent or port is more than 10 feet, using additional exhaust hose from the exhaust unit to the outside is preferred.
ULS laser cartridges are designed with internal cooling and do not require the external exhaust to be constantly running, thus saving on utility costs. Below are the Exhaust Requirements for for each ULS model:
