Which plastic types can be cut with the Rayjet?
The Rayjet is suitable for laser cutting plastics with a thickness of up to 25 mm. Acrylic and plastic laminates are the most commonly used materials for plastics marking. Here is a list of plastic types that you can cut or engrave with the Rayjet.
  • Acrylonitrile Butadien Styrene copolymer
  • Polyamide / Nylon®
  • Polycarbonate / Makrolon®, Lexan®
  • Polyester / Thermolite®, Polarguard®
  • Polyethylene Terephthalate / Mylar®
  • Polyimide / Kapton®
  • Polymethylmethacrylate /Plexiglas®, Acrylic,Perspex®
  • Polyoxymethylene / Delrin®
  • Polypropylene
  • lystyrene / Styropor®
  • Polyurethane / Styrodur® "foam"
Plastics unsuitable for laser processing
Some plastics generate gases toxic to humans during laser processing. The following plastic types are therefore not suitable for laser engraving or cutting: PVC, Vinyl, poly dibromostyrene, PTFE (Teflon). To process these plastics we recommend mechanical engraving machines or cutting plotters.
